Morecambe have revealed they have turned down an approach from Shrewsbury Town to speak to Sammy McIlroy about their vacant manager's position. Shrewsbury are looking to replace Gary Peters, who left his role on Monday by mutual consent.
Morecambe chief executive Rod Taylor told BBC Radio Lancashire: "It's good to have interest in the manager, it shows you're doing a good job.
"Sammy is happy where he is. He only signed a new deal weeks ago."
