Cooke is determined to get fully fit and score goals |
Andy Cooke will fight for his place at Shrewsbury Town, rather than move to League Two rivals Notts County. Cooke, 34, was offered an 18-month deal by County, but decided he felt happier to stay where he was.
"We couldn't agree on one or two points, and my family are settled at home too," the former Bradford striker told BBC Radio Shropshire.
"But it's nice that people are still interested in me. I must be doing something right!"
Now the player whose play-off semi-final goals took Shrewsbury to Wembley last season, wants to prove he can still cut it at the club he has supported since he was a boy.
"It hasn't been the best of seasons injury-wise," he added, "but I'm happy to be coming home and I'm doubly determined to get back into the team."
