Chris Humphrey has been rewarded with a new deal at Shrewsbury |
Young Shrewsbury Town winger Chris Humphrey has signed a new contract for the League Two promotion hopefuls. Town manager Gary Peters says the 18-month deal is a reward for the way the 20-year-old has pushed himself into the first team squad.
"Chris is an exciting prospect," Peters told Radio Shropshire. "We've made sure he's ours for this and next season.
"It means we can develop him more, and also means we're not under pressure from other clubs wanting to sign him."
Humphrey was first spotted by Peters playing for West Bromwich Albion when he lined up against Shrewsbury in a reserve game early last season.
Peters was so impressed by the player he agreed an initial deal there and then.
"His pace and ability has been evident all the way through," added the Town boss. "And he's now beginning to show he can do it in first team games."
