Ryan's loan from Liverpool was extended last month but Peters feels the talented teenager needs protecting.

"Jimmy has done well in the Fulham and Colchester games where they give you more space," he told the club website.

"If we put him in and he does well for us then someone else might want to take him on loan and we'll lose him."
