Aiston signs new contract
Shrewsbury Town winger Sam Aiston has agreed a new contract at Gay Meadow.

The former Sunderland wideman had been tracked by Macclesfield Town and Darlington following the Shrews' relegation to the Nationwide Conference.

But Aiston, 26, has opted to stay on at the club he joined in July, 2000 by signing a deal for a further two years.

"I'm sure he'll have a big part to play next season," said Shrews boss Jimmy Quinn.

"He likes the place and has a good relationship with the fans. It's now up to him to play to the best of his potential," Quinn told his club's website.

Defender Leon Drysdale and teenage midfielder Glenn Tolley have also signed new contracts, while Quinn has bought in his first two new signings from former club Northwich Victoria.

Full-back Gregor Rioch returns to Shrewsbury after 12 months with the Vics, while utility man Jake Sedgemore has also signed.
