Sheffield Wednesday manager pleased with midfielders

Alan Irvine
Irvine is happy with the start to the season the midfield have made

Sheffield Wednesday manager Alan Irvine has praised his midfielders for their goals this season.

Giles Coke has been involved in four goals and James O'Connor got a brace in the 2-1 win against Notts County in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.

Irvine lauded the duo for their contribution during the early weeks of the campaign.

"It is terrific that James has got two goals now, and Giles has been scoring goals," Irvine said.

"We are going to need goals from all over the pitch, so if they are going to add those kind of goals for us that is terrific," he continued.

"I always felt that when you were preparing to play Sheffield Wednesday that you had to be aware of James (O' Connor) making runs into the box and that is something that I would certainly encourage."
