Johnson agrees new Owls contract

Sheffield Wednesday winger Jermaine Johnson
Sheffield Wednesday winger Jermaine Johnson has 48 caps for Jamaica.

Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Jermaine Johnson has agreed a contract extension, keeping him at Hillsborough until June 2011.

The Jamaican international, 29, has scored 4 goals already this season.

"Jermaine Johnson is without a doubt a match winner," Owls boss Brian Laws told BBC Radio Sheffield.

"You need players like that in your squad. He's enjoying his best football with us. I'm looking to having J.J. with us for the next few years."

This news follows the announcement that Owls defender Richard Wood has been transfer-listed after failing to agree terms on a new deal.

Laws added: "It has been quite an easy process for us we just had to wait to get work permit approval. I think on the back of what's happened it's given us a little bit of good news."
