Sheffield Wednesday have taken up the option to extend striker Leon Clarke's contract for a further 12 months.
The club have invoked a clause in the 24-year-old's current deal to ensure he will remain at Hillsborough until the summer of 2010.
Manager Brian Laws told the club's website: "I am delighted Leon will be staying with us for another year.
"Leon has made a fantastic amount of progress this year and has become a potent weapon in our attacking play.
Clarke, who joined Wednesday from Wolverhampton Wanderers in January 2007, has scored eight goals in 29 appearances this season.
"I am very pleased to be staying at Sheffield Wednesday," said Clarke.
"It has been a very positive season for me and I hope to play in as many games as possible next season to carry on my scoring run."
