Consortium close in on Owls deal

Sheffield Wednesday

Geoff Sheard has said he believes his consortium's bid to take over Sheffield Wednesday is entering the final stages.

The Lancashire-based businessman has agreed to buy the shares of former chairman Dave Allen and the Owls' supporters society Wednesdayite.

But Sheard has told BBC Radio Sheffield he is still waiting to hear from Geoff Hulley and Keith Addy.

He said: "The offer has been accepted by two of the parties and we're waiting to hear back from the other two."

Wednesdayite hold a 10% stake in the Championship club and Sheard has confirmed they have agreed in principle to sell their shares to him.

"Mr Allen has accepted and we have an agreement with Wednesdayite which is now subject to legal due diligence."

Owls' director Geoff Hulley and former board member Keith Addy each own 10% of the club's shareholding.
