Sheffield Wednesday chairman Dave Allen has revealed that he has held talks with four groups interested in taking over at the club. "We are having discussions with four different parties, three of them are from overseas," Allen told the Sheffield Star newspaper.
"One of the four would be doing a deal in which I would stay and probably contribute as well."
Allen is hopeful the new owners will be in place by the start of next season.
"There is a lot of water to go under the bridge. I think that by the start of the season it will all be resolved," he added.
But a club spokesman said that takeover talks were not on the agenda for the club's Extraordinary General Meeting this week.
The meeting had been called to discuss a financial technicality and "no other business will be put before the EGM".
Wednesday are currently understood to be 26m in debt.
