Sheffield Wednesday defender Richard Wood has extended his contract with the club to run until June 2009. The 21-year-old is out until October with a groin injury and his previous deal was due to run out at the end of the current campaign.
"I'm very pleased," he told the club's website. "It shows the club was happy with my performances last season.
"To be offered a new contract while I'm injured shows the club want to look after me."
