Ken Bates plans to remove manager Chris Turner and chairman Dave Allen if he takes over at Sheffield Wednesday. The former Chelsea chairman has begun negotiations with the Second Division club with a view to taking charge.
He said: "It is one or the other in terms of Dave Allen or myself. He says we aren't compatible and I'd agree.
"I was open-minded about Chris Turner's future but now he has dug himself into a pit saying that I know nothing about running a football club."
He added: "Would he want to work for a chairman who he believes knows nothing about running a football club?"
Bates was initially rebuffed by the Wednesday board when he first announced plans to launch a takeover bid at Hillsborough, but negotiations have now begun.
Lawyers acting on behalf of Bates and the club have exchanged confidentiality agreements to prevent leaks.
"Announcements will be made as soon as the outcome of these negotiations has been reached," said a statement.
