![]() | Thursday, 28 March, 2002, 13:07 GMT Owls' double swoop Sheffield Wednesday have secured the double deadline-day signings of Kevin Gallacher and Jon McCarthy. Former Scottish international striker Gallacher has signed a one-month contract after leaving Preston North End. He moved in search of first-team football after having limited opportunities at Deepdale due to injury this season. The 35-year-old former Blackburn and Newcastle forward is set to face former club Coventry City on Friday night. McCarthy has moved to Hillsborough on a month's loan from Birmingham City. The Owls beat off competition from First Division rivals Barnsley for the Northern Ireland international, who recently returned to action after recovering from a broken leg. |
