Sheffield United midfielder Mark Yeates is backing caretaker manager John Carver to fill the vacant manager's position at Bramall Lane.
Carver, 45, has been in caretaker charge since Gary Speed left the club to become the new manager of Wales.
Yeates told BBC Radio Sheffield: "He's a top coach - one of the best I've worked under definitely.
"We all respect him and I don't think any of the lads would have any issues (if Carver got the job)."
It was revealed this week that the Blades will not make a permanent appointment until the new year.
Carver has previous managerial experience with Toronto FC as well as spells as caretaker manager at Newcastle and Leeds.
Sheffield United won their first game with Carver at the helm, beating Swansea 1-0 last Saturday.
The Blades are currently 20th in the Championship table and entertain Hull City at Bramall Lane on Boxing Day.
