Lita scored seven goals in 16 starts for Norwich City this season

Sheffield United have failed in a bid to sign striker Leroy Lita from Championship rivals Reading after the 24-year-old rejected the move.

The Blades had been given permission to speak to Lita after lodging a seven-figure bid but the forward has said he wants to stay at the Madejski Stadium.

The former England Under-21 man has recently returned to the Royals after a successful loan spell at Norwich.

United are looking to replace striker James Beattie, who has joined Stoke.

Lita scored in Reading's 4-0 win over Watford on Friday.
