Davis was a highly-rated defender in the Championship |
Preston's Jamaican defender Claude Davis has completed his move to Premiership newcomers Sheffield United. The Blades paid 2.5m for Davis, 27, who has signed on a four-year deal, with up to 500,000 to follow based on his appearances for the Blades.
"This is a deal the club could not afford to turn down," Preston chairman Derek Shaw told the club's website.
"It's a very good deal for Preston and gives Claude the opportunity to go to the Premiership."

Preston had earlier rejected two bids for Davis, who signed a new contract in January.
But Shaw explained: "Once bids for Claude reached a certain level, it triggered a clause in his contract allowing him to speak to Premiership clubs.
"This is very good business and will release funds for the new manager to strengthen the squad again."
Davis arrived at Deepdale from Portmore United at the start of 2003-04 campaign, initially on a one-year loan deal.
