Warnock has been busy in the market

The Blades' boss first snapped up striker Barry Hayles on a free transfer from Fulham.

Warnnock then signed central defender Leigh Bromby and midfielder Alan Quinn from neighbours Sheffield Wednesday.

Wigan winger Andy Liddell became Warnock's fifth summer signing following Jon Harley, who joined earlier from Fulham.

Hayles has signed a three-year deal at Bramall Lane after Fulham decided not to renew his contract.

The 32-year-old held talks with Leeds earlier this month and the Elland Road club appeared favourites to sign him.

Warnock said: "He is a striker of proven quality and one I know will be able to bring something to our side."

"He has demonstrated he can score goals and will give us that edge up front we need.

"So to say I am delighted is an understatement, there were plenty of other good clubs in for Barry.

"He had a chance to stay in the Premiership, so we can be proud of the fact that he has come here.

"He is enthusiastic, although he said he did not know of anyone who was more enthusiastic in the game than me!"

Hayles scored 57 goals in 143 starts for Fulham but fell out of favour last season, scoring only five League goals.

Warnock mounted a double swoop on city neighbours Wednesday, including midfielder Quinn who is seen as a replacement for Michael Brown who joined Tottenham in January.

The Blades' boss said: "I think Alan and Leigh have been treading water for the last 12 to 18 months.

"The change of club will do both of them good and give them the gee-up they need to change.

"I don't feel they will have a problem moving across the city because Sheffield Wednesday have released them.

"I will be looking to Alan to take the pressure off Michael Tonge and in some ways to replace Michael Brown

"I think Leigh is still of an age to make an impact.

"As for Andy, he has quality on the ball at set-plays and crosses which will make him a very influential member of the squad.
