Scunthorpe United's hopes of setting a new club record for season ticket sales look to have been hit by the recession.
The club sold just over 4,000 the last time they reached the Championship in 2006/07 but have only sold around 2,700 for next season so far.
General manager Jamie Hammond told BBC Radio Humberside: "We're doing quite well but we accept times are hard for people who need to watch the pennies."
Scunthorpe United open their season at Cardiff City on 8 August.
