The cash-strapped Yorkshire club have also rejected a 65,000 offer for ex-Altrincham player Ellender from Doncaster Rovers. Ellender has been at Scarborough less than a year and helped the Seasiders have the meanest defence in the Conference last season. Scarborough, who only recently escaped financial collapse, are keen to hang on to their star player, especially as they are now allowed to enter the transfer market themselves. The club's chief exective, Keith Agar, warned: "Paul Ellender is worth a lot more than 100,000." The FA has lifted the transfer embargo placed on the club earlier this year over the failure to pay wages owed to players before they were relegated from the Third Division in 1999. Boro manager Neil Thompson is hoping to bring in a couple of players on loan to boost his already depleted squad. | See also: Other top Scarborough stories: Links to top Scarborough stories are at the foot of the page. | ||
