Rushden boss Brian Talbot has called on 41-year-old Stuart Naylor to deal with their goalkeeper shortage. Naylor is the goalkeeping coach at Nene Park but Talbot has registered him as a player to provide first-team cover.
First-choice Jamie Ashdown should return to Reading after the match with Luton on 10 January, but he could be recalled at any time.
In addition, youth-team goalkeepers Karl Daniels and Stephen Gahan are with their families over Christmas.
