Rushden & Diamonds chairman Max Griggs has decided to step down as chairman of the Division Two club. Griggs has been at the helm at Nene Park for 11 years and took the club into the Football League.
The 65-year-old merged two local clubs, Rushden Town and Irthlingborough Diamonds, in 1992 in order to get the club out of their non-league position.
But Griggs has decided he has done all he can for the Diamonds and is now willing to let someone else take them forward.
"Obviously it is with much regret that I have made this decision," said Griggs.

"But having reached the age of 65, I feel that the time is right for someone else to take the club forward and provide the necessary support to maintain Football League status in the future.
"When we set out in 1992 my intention was to give something back to the local community, and to achieve League football for the area.
"In these two areas I have fulfilled my ambitions, and I am very proud of the club, and proud of all the people who have helped the club make such fantastic progress.
"I am not looking for any financial gain. I would be happy to pass on Rushden & Diamonds Football Club to the right person for nothing," he told the club's official website.
Rushden & Diamonds currently lie 16th in the Second Division having been promoted as Third Division champions last season.
