Stewart is confident the Millers will be back in Rotherham in four years

Rotherham United chairman Tony Stewart says the club are aiming for the play-offs this season despite being docked 17 points by the Football League.

The Millers were handed the punishment on Wednesday for going into administration twice in as many years.

"We'll go for the play-offs," Stewart told BBC Radio Sheffield.

"Rotherham's got its club back, and I'm going to make sure that we do our level best. Every game is going to be like a cup final."

The Millers were unable to satisfy the normal conditions of Football League rules for administration so had the points deduction and several conditions imposed on them.

The club were instructed by the Football League to leave the Don Valley Stadium in Sheffield and return to Rotherham within four years or forfeit a �750,000 bond.

They must also pay their unsecured creditors the amount offered too them at the time of the Company Voluntary Administration hearing.

Chief operating officer Paul Douglas added: "Two months ago we were dead-in-the-water as a football club. There didn't seem to be any way forward, no money in the kitty, and there didn't seem to be anybody willing to come in.

"It's been a rough three months, but we now have a team that's going into the League, albeit with a severe penalty. Comments on that we'll reserve for now."
