Rotherham United's new owner Tony Stewart believes the club have a strong case to avoid a 15-point penalty from the Football League.

The South Yorkshire club had already been deducted 10 points last season for going into administration, a decision is expected within the next five weeks.

"We've put a good case together but it's up to the League to look at our CVA," Stewart told BBC Radio Sheffield.

"The administrators put most of it together and are quite confident."

The South Yorkshire club's promotion hopes were ended last season after they were deducted 10 points for going into administration.

The Millers financial problems have also led to them leaving their home at Millmoor to play at Sheffield's Don Valley Stadium for the 2008/09 season.

Stewart, who officially took over the club last week, added: "I always take the view to look at the worst case scenario which would be 15 points.

"That's as bad as it can get but we hope it will be better than that."
