Rotherham boss Ronnie Moore said he is "disappointed" the club has not moved to offer him a new deal. But he also thanked the board for standing by him during the club's poor start to the season, which ended with a 1-0 win over Leeds on Monday.
"I'm disappointed nothing's been done. I'm not saying give me a five-year contract," Moore told BBC Sport.
"But put me under pressure, offer me a year, see if I'll take it. That's what they need to do."
Moore's contract expires next summer, and he said the off-field worries are hindering the Millers' fight to avoid relegation to League One.
Rotherham are bottom of the Championship and only grabbed their first win of the season on Monday.
Moore said it was a distraction his relegation-threatened players did not need.
"It's all up in turmoil here, and we just have to hope and pray that things can be sorted," he said.
But he stressed that he was grateful for their backing during their 20-game winless run at the start of the season.
"The chairman could have easily done what they do elsewhere and given me the sack," he said.
"But I've had his backing and the board of directors is behind me, so it was nice to repay them with a great win against probably our biggest rivals."
The 51-year-old is in his eighth season with the Millers, having taken them from the old Division Three to Division One in his time at Millmoor.
