Ross County to build on Hibs Cup victory

Ross County boss Derek Adams' top priority before the visit of Dundee is to bring his players back to earth after their Scottish Cup win over Hibs.

This Saturday's league clash is the third major game in a week at Victoria Park where almost 12,000 fans have visited on the two previous occasions.

"We performed well and Dundee will have seen the result." said Adams.

"We put a wee shiver through the rest of Scottish football and we hope we can show that commitment against Dundee."

County now find themselves in the semi-finals of the Cup against Celtic and within touching distance of Dundee in the First Division title race.

The Taysiders have a seven-point lead, but County have three games in hand and Adams is hoping that Tuesday night's performance will now give his side the psychological advantage for Saturday's encounter, with another Highland Derby in Inverness to follow on Tuesday night.

He said: "It's a hard fixture for us and we have a lot of games to play, 12 games in about five weeks.

"I believe that the players can perform and the players are doing that at a higher level, they are consistent and they are the ones that are due all the credit.

"We had a full house on Saturday and again on Tuesday night and I'm sure there will be a great following for the league leaders."

Following Tuesday's cup tie, the manager's father George Adams, County's Director of Football, told the BBC that playing in the Scottish Premier League - which they have played down all season - was the club's stated aim.

However his son is refusing to allow that revelation to add pressure in the current campaign.

"He said he wanted to go to the SPL in the future and that might mean it might not be tomorrow or the next day, but we have ambition to go there but it would be in stages, but we've had a terrific season so far," said Adams.

Defender Steven Watt is still out with a hamstring injury and is joined on the sidelines by Paul Lawson who picked up the same problem on Tuesday night.
