County should have gone through - Adams

Manager Derek Adams was full of praise for Ross County as they earned a well-deserved Scottish Cup quarter-final replay with Hibernian.

"We performed to a very high standard and we had the chances to win the game," said Adams after the 2-2 draw.

"The players were marvellous. I didn't have to make a substitution in the game and that tells its own story.

"I thought we controlled large spells of the game and we got great support to our strikers from midfield."

The First Division visitors twice came from behind to draw with their Scottish Premier League opponents and were the more dangerous side in the closing stages.

County enjoyed the rub of the green with a first half own goal from Ian Murray but fully merited Michael Gardyne's equaliser 11 minutes from time.

The Hibs supporters jeered their own side on the final whistle but took time to applaud the efforts of the Dingwall outfit.

After being down twice in the game it showed the character of the players

"I thought that was tremendous from the Hibs fans," added Adams. "They appreciate good football and we certainly put on a good show and I think they appreciated that, although I don't think they would have applauded us off if we had won 3-2."

The teams will meet again at Victoria Park on 23 March and Adams is looking forward to locking horns with Hibs again, rather than regretting missed chances at Easter Road.

In the closing stages Martin Scott had a shot cleared off the line by Murray and saw his follow-up effort saved by Hibs keeper Graham Stack during a desperate scramble.

"It gives us a chance in the replay now," said Adams.

"After being down twice in the game it showed the character of the players. They were marvellous, that they wanted to go and win the game and they were unfortunate not to do that.

"We had a lot of possession in the game and we used the possession well.

"I don't know if Hibernian didn't realise what they were going to be up against, player-wise. But they certainly know now what to expect come the replay.

"I'm not disappointed because Hibs are a good side and they're doing well in the SPL.

"Okay, we had opportunities to win the game, there's no doubt about that, but you're playing against a top-class side."
