George Adams and Dick Campbell are said to have disagreed |
Ross County chairman Roy MacGregor says Dick Campbell paid for leading the Division Two table without playing the club's traditional stylish football. Campbell, appointed this summer, exited "by mutual consent" on Tuesday.
And MacGregor told The Herald: "We thank Dick, but there was a difference in style between the club and him that was not good for us long-term.
"We want to win the league and do it with a bit of panache. We have always been a club that's tried to entertain."
Campbell, a Scottish FA coach and current chairman of its technical coaching staff, was looking for his seventh league title as a manager.

And County still lead Division Two despite slipping up on Saturday by drawing at home to Alloa Athletic.
But it is believed that he had a disagreement with director of football George Adams.
And MacGregor decided that he needed to begin the search for the club's sixth manager in two years after a disagreement about Campbell's tactics.
The chairman appears to believe that a full-time team with "the best players in the league" ought to be performing better.

"We had to make the judgement as to whether we could win the league with that style and, if so, whether it was worth losing something of the soul of Ross County," said MacGregor.
"Some people will say it is a strange decision when we are top of the league.
"But I can assure the fans and everyone connected with the club that this was done for the good of Ross County.
"People may not understand the decision immediately, but I hope they will come to."
