Hill wants million pound budget increase for League One

Hill's team lost seven of their last ten League Two matches

Manager Keith Hill has said Rochdale need a million pound budget increase to survive in League One next season

Rochdale won promotion after finishing third in League Two, eleven points behind winners Notts County.

Hill told BBC Radio Manchester: "We need at least a million pounds on top of our current budget to survive in League One.

"That's the fight we are going to have to fight. It's going to be difficult but we'll have to over-achieve."

He added: "What I need to build is a squad of players who are honest, collectively going in the same direction, flying in formation - whichever way you want to call it.

"And they're going to have to leave blood on the pitch - which they haven't done for the last ten games."
