Reading's Shaun Cummings thanks former boss Rodgers
Cummings joined Reading from Chelsea in September 2009
Reading defender Shaun Cummings says he owes Brendan Rodgers gratitude for signing him when he was Royals manager.
Rodgers is now in charge at Swansea and faces his former club in Monday's Championship play-off final at Wembley.
Cummings told BBC Berkshire: "He gave me my opportunity because I was at Chelsea reserves at the time and he knew me from there.
"I thank him for bringing me here. Now he's not here, I have to work hard under Brian McDermott."
Cummings added: "He [Rodgers] knows where he wants to be. That [the Premier League] was where he wanted to take Reading but unfortunately it didn't happen."
Cummings said as long as he is in the squad, he does not mind where McDermott asks him to play.
"Hopefully I'm relaxed wherever I play," he added. "If the manager needs me to play in a position, then hopefully I'll try to do a job there and I'll try to do my best, which I think I've done."
