Defender Bikey sorry for red card

Andre Bikey
Bikey will miss the second leg as well as potentially the play-off final

Reading defender Andre Bikey has apologised to team-mates and supporters for his dismissal at Burnley, which has brought his season to a premature end.

The Cameroon international was sent off for a stamp on Burnley's Robbie Blake and threw his shirt to the ground - landing him a four-game ban.

Manager Steve Coppell told BBC Radio Berkshire: "Andre flew off into one and he's apologised to his team-mates.

"We apologise on his behalf for his behaviour. It shouldn't have happened."

He added: "In one way you could say that it shows his passion, but it also shows his lack of control so it's something we'll be working on."

We've enough to concentrate on with the demands of the game without concerning ourselves too much about what happened on Saturday

Coppell added that despite the 1-0 defeat at Turf Moor, the team remain in good spirits and focused on the second leg.

"We have to score, so in some ways conceding the goal didn't make that much difference. It could be the critical difference, but we know we have to score anyway," he said.

"That's been enough of a problem for us at home - we've enough to concentrate on with the demands of the game without concerning ourselves too much about what happened on Saturday."

Reading v Burnley kicks off at 1945 BST on Tuesday, 12 May and is live on BBC Radio Berkshire.
