Coppell happy with Reading squad

Reading boss Steve Coppell will not sign any more players before Thursday's loan deadline despite Liam Rosenior being ruled out for up to four weeks.

BBC Berkshire reports that the full-back, who broke his hand before being sent off during the 0-0 draw at Crystal Palace, will miss four games.

Two of those will be through suspension for his second red card of the season.

But Coppell told Reading's website: "The squad is good enough to take us where we want to go."

Rosenior was sent off for two yellow card offences at Selhurst Park, but is due to serve a two-match ban because he was also dismissed against Swansea earlier in the season.

Sooner or later you need to stop collecting players that might just give you comfort or end up sitting in the stand

Those games will be the trip to Coventry and Good Friday's home game against Sheffield United.

Rosenior is also expected to miss the Easter Monday trip to Blackpool and the visit of Barnsley on 18 April.

But Coppell, who recently brought in Glen Little and Dave Kitson, is loathe to use the loan market again.

"Sooner or later you need to stop collecting players that might just give you comfort or end up sitting in the stand," he said.

"We have sufficient depth, we're not vulnerable and now it's time to show if we're going to be good enough.

"There are seven games left and we have to show that we're capable enough, in a pressure situation, to mount a serious challenge and be promoted come May."
