Reading's pre-season tour of Sweden starts with a match against Division 1 side Trollhattan on Thursday.
The Royals will then play Lerkils IF on Saturday and finish the tour against Halnstads PK on Tuesday.
Reading manager Steve Coppell told BBC Radio Berkshire it is the start of "an intensive couple of weeks".
"We want to make sure we have as many players as fit as possible come August 10th," he added.
Ibrahima Sonko and Kalifa Cisse are both in Sweden, returning from international duties with Senegal and Mali respectively.
Coppell said he was glad to have them back, saying "it will give them a chance to integrate back into the squad".
And of the progress of the squad's younger players in the pre-season so far, Coppell said: "They have done ever so well. They've made an impact.
"I know I could trust them if we needed to, going into the season - it's all in front of them."
