Reading captain Graeme Murty still harbours some hope that he may appear for the Royals again this season.

Murty has missed Reading's last two games due to injury, but he told BBC Radio Berkshire he has not given up of helping in the relegation battle.

He said: "I don't think the knee injury is that bad, it's just come at a very frustrating time for me.

"You have to respond to these things in the proper manner, and for me is to make sure I do my rehab properly."

He added: "I have to make sure that everything's 100% better before I go back to train."

Trying to guess Rafa Benitez's team selection is a fool's game

"As soon as I go through 10-degrees bend in my knee and put some load through it, I get some sharp pain in the back of my knee-cap.

"You just have to make sure you operate within the limits you can and not try to do too much too early."

Despite having grown up a Liverpool supporter, Murty thinks Reading are capable of pulling off a major upset at Anfield on Saturday.

"I think he [Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez] will rest some of his big-hitters. I think he'll rest Fernando Torres and I can see him resting Steven Gerrard. But trying to guess his team selection is a fool's game.

"We can go there and spring a surprise because they've had a massive game mid-week."
