Duberry says the key to Reading's survival is finding some momentum (Getty Images) |
Reading defender Michael Duberry has indicated that he is close to making a return to first-team action. The 32-year-old has been absent since injuring his knee against Tottenham in the FA Cup third round in January.
"I'll see how I get on in training. I might surprise people, but I need a reserve game under my belt," Duberry told BBC Radio Berkshire.
"It's been frustrating seeing the opportunities drift away and not being able to help the team."
Reading are third from bottom of the Premier League and have lost their last eight matches.
 | We need to find a bit of momentum to take us from now until the end of the season |
Duberry has experienced a relegation battle before, as part of the Leeds United team who went down in 2004. He said he can offer his team-mates some advice.
"The best thing we can do now is to worry about ourselves and to make sure we get the results and everyone else slips up. We can't effect what goes on in the other games.
"We just have to focus on the next game and not worry about what's around the corner.
"I don't think it's happened here, but at Leeds we felt that we weren't one of the worst three teams. But people get momentum and start pushing up.
"You lose momentum, like we've done now and we're going down, while teams like Sunderland are pushing up and scraping points here and there.
"We need to find a bit of momentum to take us from now until the end of the season."
