Reading fail with record offers
Reading have had two club record bids for World Cup stars Ghana's John Mensah and Ivory Coast's Emerse Fae rejected.

The Royals were willing to pay 3.5m for Rennes' Mensah and a similar sum for Fae of Nantes.

That amount would have broken the current transfer record of 1.5m that was paid to Wolves for Seol Ki-Hyeon.

"We made an offer and they turned it down. Both clubs said it doesn't matter what we offer, the players are not for sale," said Reading boss Steve Coppell.
