Gamble helped Barnet reach the Conference play-offs |
Reading have released young midfielder Andre Boucaud and Joe Gamble after deciding not to offer them new deals. Gamble, 22, played 13 first-team games for Reading and has spent the season on loan at Conference side Barnet.
Boucaud, 19, did not make a senior appearance for the Royals but had a three-month loan at Peterborough at the start of the current campaign.
Posh are now interested in signing Boucard on a permanent basis, with Walsall and Luton also keen.
Reading's director of football Nick Hammond said: "Joe did very well at Barnet and is at the stage where he needs to be playing regularly in the centre of midfield.
"But given the quality of players in that position already at this club it's unlikely he'd do that here next season.
"Andre has been a bit unfortunate that the club has progressed so quickly in his time here.
"Like Joe, he's a central midfielder who doesn't really play in any other position and it'd be very difficult for him to displace the quality of players we have here.
"We also feel that in Simieon Howell we've got a young central midfielder who we want to be able to play regularly in reserve games next season - and we want to maximise his game time," Hammond told his club's official website.
