Miller was greeted by thousands of Bursaspor fans

Scotland striker Kenny Miller has completed his £400,000 transfer from Rangers to Bursaspor.

The 31-year-old put pen to paper on a two-and-a-half year contract in front of 5,000 fans at the Ataturk Stadium.

Miller, who was due to be out of contract in the summer, told the Bursa website: "I'm very happy to be here.

"The priority is to make sure we win the title and hopefully I can play a part in doing that and getting back into the Champions League."

Reigning champions Bursaspor hope that Miller, who was introduced to his new team-mates at training on Thursday, can help them overhaul Trabzonspor, who lead the Turkish Super Lig by five points.

Miller, who will wear the number 18 shirt, scored against Bursaspor in this season's tournament and was impressed by the Turkish side after beating them in Glasgow and earning a 1-1 draw away from home.

"When the opportunity came up, I knew they were a good team and I felt I could fit into a team like this," he said.

Miller received an enthusiastic welcome from Bursa fans at the airport when he arrived in Turkey before agreeing personal terms.

Rangers had earlier accepted a larger offer for Miller, who has scored 22 goals this season, from Birmingham.

But, while Miller flew to Turkey on Wednesday, Blues manager Alex McLeish resigned himself to missing out on signing the striker he worked with with Hibernian and Scotland.

Birmingham said Miller had accepted an "irresistible offer" from the Turks.

Rangers assistant manager Ally McCoist is sad to lose the club's leading scorer but was quick to praise the work done by the forward at Ibrox.

"He made a wonderful contribution for the period that he was here," he told the club website.

"Kenny has been great for the club and equally the club has been great for Kenny. It's been a good partnership.

"If the deal does go through then he will go with our blessing and our thanks.

"Having said that, we are disappointed to see him go because he has been an integral part of the team over the past two-and-a-half seasons.

"You can understand why he has made the decision he has. All he was doing was exercising his right to look around, like any other player who is coming to the end of his contract."
