An injured Bursaspor fan is helped by friends
Bursaspor supporters have been caught up in violence three days ahead of their Champions League game against Rangers in Turkey.
Three fans were in hospital with knife injuries after clashes before the match between the defending Turkish champions and Besiktas in Istanbul.
Besiktas fans broke through a police cordon to attack about 1,200 Bursaspor supporters, according to CNN Turk.
The match at Inonu Stadium ended in a 1-0 victory for Besiktas.
But the game was marred by the clashes outside, with the television channel showing footage of police using batons and tear gas to break up the skirmishes outside Besiktas's ground.
At least one other person was being treated in hospital for his injuries, the state-run Anatolian news agency reported.
Bursaspor fans still blame Besiktas for their side's relegation to the second division in 2003 after the Istanbul club played badly against another team in danger of going down.
Since then, encounters between the fans have often led to violence.
Rangers face Bursaspor in their final Group C game on Tuesday with the Turks destined to finish bottom but looking to gather their first points in the tournament.
The Scottish champions have already secured third spot and qualification for the Europa League.
Defeat to 13-times champions Besiktas, presently lying fifth in Turkey's top flight, leaves Bursaspor five points adrift of Trabzonspor but still in second place.
