Rangers chief executive Martin Bain is hopeful that Kenny Miller will sign a new deal despite already rejecting two offers from the Glasgow club.

The striker, who has netted 11 goals so far this season, is out of contract at the end of the current campaign.

"Kenny Miller is a player who we want to stay at the football club first and foremost," Bain told shareholders at Rangers' annual meeting.

"I'm hopeful that we can come to some sort of agreement with Kenny."

Rangers manager Walter Smith, who will leave the club in the summer, wants to secure Miller for his successor.

And Bain explained: "His representatives had some discussions with me some weeks ago, I made them an offer and they didn't like the offer I made.

"I made them a second offer and they didn't like that one either. I'm going through a process of discussion with them.

"Kenny is a good boy, a sensible lad, and his representatives are also good to deal with as well.

"I know Walter is keen that I do something because the player is on fire at the moment."
