Rangers manager Walter Smith relief at win over Saints
Smith said his Rangers players are not firing on all cylinders
Rangers manager Walter Smith conceded the 2-1 victory over St Johnstone at Ibrox proved a frustrating afternoon for the league leaders.
"We didn't start the game well and in our three league matches we've not started any well," Smith said.
"It took us until St Johnstone scored before we actually got a bit of a fright and had to work very hard to break down a very good side.
"We've still got a bit to come this season from a number of our boys."
Rangers trailed to Danny Grainger's thunderbolt, but hit back through Sasa Papac and Kenny Miller - his fifth in three league games - to move three points clear at the top of the table.
"Certainly, after St Johnstone scored, we started to dominate the game so maybe we are needing a kick-start prior to the kick-off rather than waiting until the action starts and reacting to it," Smith said.
Nikica Jelavic made his Rangers debut after coming on as a second-half substitute.
"The main object was to get him on the pitch and get the feeling of what it's like to play at Ibrox," Smith added.
