Broadfoot returned to Rangers' starting line-up against St Johnstone
Kirk Broadfoot believes he has recovered from the hardest period of his life and emerged ever more ready to retain a place in Rangers' first-team.
The 25-year-old returned from a nine-month injury absence to take the right-back spot against St Johnstone.
"Emotionally, it's probably been the toughest time of my life," he said.
"It's been a long slog, nine months out when initially I only thought it would be two or three weeks, but I feel as if I am a stronger person for it."
His return proved timely and, against Saints, Steven Whittaker was dropped to the bench following an alarming dip in form for a player who had previously deputised admirably for both his club and Scotland.
I am probably the fittest I have been in my career

Broadfoot had not played since aggravating a foot injury in the Co-operative Insurance Cup final in March.
He not only missed Rangers' title run-in last season but the chance to add to his three international caps as Scotland tried in vain to qualify for the World Cup finals.
But he coped comfortably with 90 minutes as Rangers ran out 3-0 winners to remain two points behind Scottish Premier League leaders Celtic with a game in hand.
