Boyd and Burley were at odds over the striker's place in the Scotland team

Rangers striker Kris Boyd says he has no intention of reconsidering his decision to quit the Scotland set-up under manager George Burley.

Boyd said he no longer wanted to play for Burley after he was an unused substitute against Norway last October.

Despite failure to make the World Cup, the Scottish FA has backed the manager to continue in his post.

"If I have to wait for another two years, then I'll wait. I've said all I want to say on the matter," said Boyd.

The introduction of inexperienced duo Steven Fletcher and Chris Iwelumo before Boyd during the 0-0 draw with Norway in World Cup qualifying prompted the player to announce his self-imposed exile.

At the time he said he wanted to concentrate on cementing his place in the Rangers side, adding he still wanted to appear for Scotland at some point in the future.

In total, Boyd struck seven times in 15 outings for his country, while last season the 26-year-old was top scorer in the Scottish Premier League with 27 goals.

Meanwhile, Boyd insists his continued absence from the Rangers starting line-up in European matches will not dissuade him from his ambition to stay with the Ibrox club.

The 26-year-old, whose contract runs out next summer, was an unused substitute in Wednesday's 1-1 Champions League draw with Vfb Stuttgart and rarely featured in Rangers' run to the Uefa Cup final in season 2007/08.

"I want to play at Rangers and whatever happens will happen," added the former Kilmarnock player.

"If I get a chance (in Europe), I'm sure I'll go and try to do my best.

"If we go through (to the next round) then I can't argue. It's up to me to be ready when another chance comes.

"Obviously, I'd like to play but the team comes first and the gaffer set up like that.

"We got our rewards from it; we came back with a point, which was a good result at the end of it."
