Rangers manager Walter Smith has backed striker Steven Naismith to play an important role in the club's quest to defend their league title.
Naismith, who suffered a serious knee injury in May, scored in Sunday's 2-0 friendly win over FC Nuremberg.
"Steven did very well and he scored a fantastic goal," manager Walter Smith told his club website.
"This year he has come back looking really fit and we are confident he can go on to be a big player for us."
The former Kilmarnock striker opened the scoring in the Frankenstadion after coming on at half-time for Kris Boyd.
And he also had a hand in Nacho Novo's goal that clinched the win.
Midfielder Kevin Thomson returned to the side for the first time since damaging his cruciate ligament in November.
The 24-year-old former Hibernian player replaced Charlie Adam with half an hour remaining.
Smith was fairly happy with his side as they top up their match fitness ahead of the new season.
"We were still a little bit rusty at times but we had some decent performances from our group and we were happy to win," he said.
