Barry Ferguson remained tight-lipped on his Rangers future

A tearful Barry Ferguson was coy about his Rangers future following the 1-0 Scottish Cup final win over Falkirk.

The 31-year-old was fined and stripped of the captaincy following a breach of discipline while on Scotland duty and has been linked with a summer move.

"What happens next? I'm going to go away and enjoy a holiday with my family," he told BBC Scotland.

"If that is the end at least I've come back with my head held high. I made a mistake. I can't turn back the clock."

Ferguson has been linked with West Brom and English Premier League newcomers Birmingham City, who are managed by former Ibrox boss Alex McLeish.

The midfielder said he had endured a difficult couple of months and was reluctant to comment on transfer speculation linking him with a move.

"I didn't think I would get the chance to play again, but I've come back in the last three games," he added.

Ferguson also praised the Rangers supporters for their reaction following his recent difficulties.

"Last week, especially, the way they treated me when I came on for the last half hour (at Tannadice), meant a lot to me."

The former Rangers skipper expressed delight after helping his side secure the double with victory over Falkirk at Hampden.

"It's great to win a double. It wasn't a great game, but at the end of the day it's all about winning and we've done that."
