McCoist admits to Ibrox dark days

Ally McCoist rates last week among the worst of his time at Rangers.

Barry Ferguson and Allan McGregor were suspended for two weeks without pay following after making V-signs while on the Scotland bench against Iceland.

That followed a weekend drinking session that ended with the pair being dropped from the international team.

"It is as disappointing a week in terms of things like that as I have ever had," said assistant boss McCoist. "It is a week we could have done without."

Ferguson was also stripped of the captaincy by club and country and both players were banned from representing Scotland again.

It has raised doubts about the long-term future of the midfielder and goalkeeper McGregor at Rangers.

The manager and club have taken action. We have to stand by that and move on

And it has disrupted the club's bid to wrest the Scottish Premier League title from arch-rivals Celtic.

"Although the lads misbehaved when they were away with the international team, that could have been the whole thing done and dusted," McCoist told Rangers TV ahead of Wednesday's match against St Mirren.

"I know the manager spoke to Barry and Allan. Unfortunately, they carried on in their actions on the Wednesday.

"That disappointed the manager and everybody at the club.

"The manager and club have taken action. We have to stand by that and move on."
