Rangers manager Walter Smith says Kenny Miller will travel to London next week to seek specialist help to repair a hamstring problem.
Miller missed out against Falkirk on Sunday and is expected to be out for at least another two weeks.
The 29-year-old will be absent for the match against St Mirren and will not travel to Motherwell on Saturday.
"Hopefully once we get things diagnosed and be begins his treatment, he won't be out for too long," said Smith.
Smith also said he sympathised with Miller, who featured in both of Scotland's recent World Cup qualifiers against Netherlands and Iceland, but the striker had been unable to play through the pain barrier any longer.
"It's been an awkward one for him," said Smith. "He had been able to play, but it got to the stage where it became more and more painful."
Lee McCulloch and Kirk Broadfoot will also miss the St Mirren match and seem unlikely to be ready to face Motherwell at the weekend.
However, McCulloch, who has a calf problem, could be available for the trip to face Hibernian at Easter Road on 19 April.
