Kris Boyd has revealed he considered leaving Rangers in the summer as his frustration grew at being overlooked for key matches.
The 25-year-old has been left out for the last five Old Firm meetings and started just two of the club's 19 European ties last term.
"I thought maybe my time was up and I'd have to move on," said the forward who has scored 13 goals this season.
"I thought about it over the summer but decided to give it another shot."
Boyd, who was Rangers' top scorer with 25 goals last season, was the subject of a 2.5m bid from Cardiff City in June.
That offer was turned down but doubts grew about Boyd's future with the signings of Kenny Miller, Andrius Velicka and Kyle Lafferty.
"I didn't want to walk away and give up on the club I love as easy as that," added Boyd, who bagged braces in both the League Cup and Scottish Cup successes during the last campaign.
"I've always wanted to play here and be a part of success.
"I got a taste of that last season and want more this year."
In October, Boyd said he would not play for Scotland again under manager George Burley.
The striker was upset after not being included for the World Cup qualifier with Norway, which ended in a 0-0 draw at Hampden.
