Papac aims to extend Rangers stay

Rangers defender Sasa Papac expects to sign a new two-year contract extension some time next week.

"I hope maybe something will be sorted out during the next couple of days," said the 28-year-old Bosnian.

"I think I will sign until 2011. I want to stay and it was good that Rangers came to ask about an extension.

"It has all been going well and I'm enjoying my football so much at Rangers. But my main focus is on winning the league."

Papac arrived at Ibrox from Austria Vienna in August 2006 and survived a rocky start to his career in Scotland to become a regular at left-back last season.

Signed by Paul Le Guen, Papac is the only survivor of the French manager's short-lived regime.

"I have some great memories from here and reaching the Uefa Cup final last season was a highlight," added the defender.

"But I want some new memories. I'm desperate to win the SPL - that would be a nice one."
