Smith may not add to his squad in January if Cousin joins Fulham |
Rangers manager Walter Smith says he may not buy a replacement striker in January if Daniel Cousin completes a 3m switch to Fulham. The clubs agreed a fee on Tuesday and the 31-year-old Gabon striker has travelled to London for talks.
But Smith said: "I might just manage to get by with the players we have here. We have a squad of 27 and a lot of them are forwards and are doing all right."
Rangers have been linked with a 3.5m move for Aston Villa's Luke Moore.
The Ibrox club, who currently sit top of the SPL table, face East Stirlingshire in the Scottish Cup fourth-round at Ibrox on Wednesday.
Smith could give youngsters John Fleck, Dean Furman and Giorgos Efrem a rare first-team outing in the cup match.
And the Ibrox manager said he was happy with the size of his squad for the time being.
"Even if we lost someone, the only way I would bring somebody in for the long-term is if I feel they can improve the position.
"It's not easy to do that in the January transfer window."
