Juninho (centre) says Lyon were still hurting from their home loss |
Lyon captain Juninho says the 3-0 home defeat by Rangers in the Champions League gave them an added incentive ahead of Wednesday's victory at Ibrox. The French champions defeated Walter Smith's side 3-0 to progress to the last 16 of the competition from Group E, along with group winners Barcelona.
"When you look back at the match in Lyon, we must've had 26 attempts on goal yet we lost three goals," he said.
"Pride was a huge factor for us. We were well worthy victors."
Rangers needed a draw to progress to the knock-out stages, but goals from Sidney Govou and a double from Karim Benzema sealed victory for Lyon.

"We said we hadn't missed out on qualifying for three years and we certainly didn't want to miss out here," said Juninho.
"Physically, they were always up to the mark. But, technically, I think we had enough of a margin and it told over the piece."
With Lyon leading 1-0, Rangers substitute Jean-Claude Darcheville spurned a great chance to equalise late in the game.
"When Darcheville missed that chance it was a big turning point in the game for both teams," said the Brazilian.
Juninho said he was impressed by the Rangers fans at Ibrox.
"The atmosphere in this place is just fabulous, which made it an incredibly difficult match," he said.
"Truth be told, in this kind of atmosphere, even if we had been playing an under-18 team, the crowd would've pushed them on in the same way in the second half."
Rangers finished third in Group E and will play in the Uefa Cup.
